The Financial Planning Director will partner closely with a broad range of Finance and business leaders in Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, HR, and Technology and own the relationship with assigned business partners, as well as supporting communications with the board of directors and ownership. This role will design, develop, and maintain performance measurements and reporting on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business and provide actionable insights to the business and to management.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Provide strategic and financial thought leadership in the organization; work to break down communication barriers and build cross functional relationships and teams
Develop and provide leadership to direct report(s) as well as other junior staff in the organization; set standards for quality and critical thinking
Draw on solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build and manage financial models, manage and analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders
Maintenance and continuous improvement of financial forecasts, financial and operational performance analysis, and other analytical requests and projects with the mission of driving business decisions through fact-based, financial data and analytics
Partner with business leadership to ensure alignment on all forecasting assumptions and variance analysis
Responsible for delivering weekly/monthly financial results, planning, forecasting, budgeting, ad hoc reporting and consolidations utilizing financial systems, Excel functions, and data visualization tools
Design and support test and learn efforts with key business partners (PPNOC)
Partner with Accounting on treasury management
Support M&A analysis and diligence as needed
Play a role in quality control and the data standardization process and help develop, maintain, and automate tools and systems to support business drivers
Create effective business partnership, manage competing priorities, and provide guidance
Communicate data and subsequent conclusions (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner, adjusting your style based on audience and active listening skills, to articulate complex finance issues
Support the preparation of external communications with the board of directors, lenders, and vendor partners
Maintain staff results by coaching and counseling; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Job Specifications And Experience
BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science) or equivalent. MBA and/or Professional certification, preferred
Minimum 8+ years of finance experience, or master’s degree and 6 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience leading teams of Finance analysts
Experience working with visualization and business analysis and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, Essbase and/or Cognos) and other financial systems (i.e. D365, Oracle, SAP)
Experience in Retail industry, preferred
