Where you fit in

Shell Energy Australia is seeking an additional Business Analyst. Under the role, you will work in the Shell Energy Australia Trading, as well as the QGC Gas Optimisation business.

What’s the role?

As Business Analyst, you will be entrusted to:
Work with the business users to understand new and changed requirements.

Design solutions that meet requirements and fit nicely into the existing systems landscape.

Write technical and functional specifications for the IT team (located both on and offshore).

Work with IT to ensure that they understand specifications, the overall design, and the original requirement.

Be flexible and take on board feedback, adapting designs and specifications where they need it.

Test new and changed functionality ensuring that it meets the specification, design, and requirement.

Help users to test new and changed functionality.

Work with IT to get new and changed functionality released into the production environment.

With help and mentoring from the BA’s on the team, over time you will learn the following, plus much more:

How to use and configure the Endur Trading and Risk Management system. From deal entry, curve configuration, gas scheduling, report design, VAR principles and configuration, settlements, accounting, etc.

The Shell Energy Australia and QGC systems landscape.

The Trading business, from the Front Office, the middle office and risk, right through to settlements and accounting.

Australian Gas wholesale and derivatives market (both east and west coasts) trading and how to model deals in trading systems.

Australian financial power derivatives market trading and how to model deals in trading systems.

The basics of hedge trades and how to model them.

The QGC gas commercial chain from upstream through to domestic sales and LNG production.

What we need from you

We are keen to speak to professionals with the following:
Extensive experience as a business analyst.

A person who can listen to users and derive their requirements.

The ability to write clear (and concise) functional and technical specifications.

Some experience in a trading and risk management business, ideally Australian physical gas or financial power.

An interest in, and basic understanding of the development lifecycle.

Someone who can read and understand simple code.

The ability to write simple SQL select statements.

The successful candidate should be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
