The Chief Financial Officer of The Cathedral School will be a creative, collegial, and collaborative leader who reports to and works in close partnership with the Head of School. The ideal hire will be a candid and participative manager who leads and/or supports a small internal team responsible for the School’s finances, business planning and budgeting, human resources, and administration.
The CFO plays a key role in partnering with fellow members of the senior leadership team in strategic decision-making and operations. In a close-knit community of 245 Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students and 80 professional colleagues, having a history of successful relationship-building is a critical skill set. Responsibilities

Analyze and present financial reports in accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting
Coordinate and lead annual audit process, partner with external auditors and Finance and Audit Committees of Board of Trustees, and assess any recommended changes
Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in partnership with Head of School, involve all program and department managers in budgeting process, administer and review all financial plans and budgets, monitor progress and changes, keep senior administrators and Trustees informed of School’s financial status
Manage all banking and finance relationships
Manage organizational cash flow forecasting
Utilize financial management and reporting systems
Ensure tuition billing and collection schedule is followed, financial data and cash flow are sound, and support operational and any debt service requirements
Update and/or implement necessary business policies and accounting practices. Over time, develop policy and procedure manual for Finance Office
Participate and provide financial input and support in review of key resources of School revenue and expenditures, including any cost-saving initiatives
Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to Head of School, Board of Trustees, and related committees
Support School’s human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training, recruiting, and consistent hiring processes
Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants
Support administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations
Be key financial and business partner to Head of School

The ideal candidate will possess:

CPA, MBA, or related degree
Prior management experience, including a not-for-profit organization
Prior responsibility for quality and content of financial data, reporting, and audit coordination
Experience relaying financial concepts to community members who do not have financial backgrounds
Experience selecting and overseeing accounting and reporting software
Successful track record in setting priorities and enabling sound decision-making
Strong writing, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to prioritize and work with variety of internal and external stakeholders
Personal character and qualities that align with mission and values of The Cathedral School

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a 12 month role with a December 2022 start date.
