The Role
This role is primarily responsible for Accounts Receivable and Credit control. The role will also offer growth opportunities for those keen to develop a career in Finance and we are committed to investing in your development enabling you to gain Accounting qualification (level 4+) in either AAT, ACCA or CIMA through the BPP Apprenticeship Programme.
Responsibilities
Accounts receivable and credit control
Liaise with contract managers to agree invoice values
Raise customer invoices as per project requirement with an emphasis on accuracy
Maintain accounts receivable debtor days report and monitor due dates to ensure that customer adhere to the payment terms
Routinely contact customers to follow up on overdue invoices
Hold regular aged debtors review meetings with Finance Manager and PMO support to provide updates on credit control activities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer billing contact in the accounting system
Management accounting and month end duties
Timely matching of customer payments including timely submission of cheque payments where required
Responsible for timely and accurate distribution of WIP reports
Review, prepare and post monthly accrued and deferred income journals
Maintain own balance sheet recs (accrued income, deferred income, aged debtors)
Prepare monthly reports for clients and trade associations
Ensure that bank reconciliations are completed and maintained in Unit 4 Business World
Other tasks:
Assume ownership of weekly timesheet report, ensuring that deadlines are met
Cross-train on routine accounts payable tasks and provide short-term cover during absences
Support the team where required
Requirements
At Gemserv, we take a flexible approach to recruitment however for this role you will need to have:
GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English at grades A*-C (1-5)
Previously completed the Level 3 AAT or equivalent experience within finance / accounts department
Successful candidates will also need:
Strong communication skills, including written, verbal and numeracy
Practical experience using Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Excellent organisational abilities, with a focus on attention to detail
Good time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines
Ability to communicate with employees at all levels and to be a team player
Confidence and enthusiasm to present to stakeholders and other employees
Previous experience in credit control or similar role
Practical experience using an accounting software. Unit 4 Business World/Agresso preferred but not required
Upon employment, employee should also have a sound awareness of the Company’s Information, Quality, Environmental and Management Systems along with understanding of Gemserv compliance with GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018 following their induction training.
