Financial Analyst Job at Cleaver Brooks – in Stratford, ON

Basic Function:
Performs assigned accounting functions of a routine nature as well as some research and analysis over financial results or inquiries. Engages with and supports other departments in the business.

Essential Duties:
Ensures the Fixed Asset Ledger is properly maintained for both book and taxation purposes.

Prepares monthly sales tax returns for both Provincial and Federal levels.

Accounts Receivable – billings and collections

Treasury, collections & Accounts Payable responsibilities as required/assigned

Accounts Payable for specific vendors or unique transactions, including wire payments and correspondence

Perform month, quarter and year end close processes, meeting deadlines. Book journal entries and provide appropriate detail level review and analysis.

Develop and maintain tracking tools and accounting checklists. Ensure reporting is correct and accurate.

Assists with the preparation of various financial/fiscal reports; develops supporting analyses for reports using some independent judgement to interpret established procedures and instructions.

Prepare monthly account reconciliations as assigned.

Perform monthly financial variance analysis, including research, documentation and communication of account fluctuations as assigned.

Help develop and analyze components of forecasts and budgets as required.

Support Controller with Company pension & RRSP administration.

Establish and build effective and productive relationships within finance and other departments.

Adhere to Company policy and procedures.

Other accounting, AP, AR, GL, reporting, analysis, and projects as assigned by members of management.

Provide proper level of customer service to the rest of the organization.

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field is required.

Experience Required: 5+ years of accounting experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Skill and Effort: Work requires a few simple, but rapid hand operations.

Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
