Financial Analyst / Accountant 4 – Comparative Medicine & ARF Job at Penn State University – 4.3 in Hershey, PA
The Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking a Financial Analyst/Accountant 4. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data for Comparative Medicine and the Animal Research Facility at the College of Medicine. This will be include performing advanced analysis and reconciliation of complex accounting records and interpreting analytical results, researching and resolving complex accounting problems and/or discrepancies, and developing appropriate accounting processes to proactively create accurate financial data. Responsibilities will also include development, in conjunction with their manager, of routine audit procedures for internal activity and implementation of the developed processes.
The successful candidate will also be able to correspond with other COM financial staff as needed, field and answer questions regarding financial operations/accounting/policy/etc. regarding the Animal Research Facility. They will also be responsible for the development of the Animal Rates as well as forecasting to ensure the rates are allowable by the DCAA auditors. The role will also assist with financial systems management with in the Animal Research Facility and help to ensure the proper processes and structures are in place to support reliable financial management and outcomes. Serves as the primary financial liaison and centralized resource for the department.
This position is responsible for the management and oversight of all University restricted accounts (federal, state, foundation, miscellaneous general research accounts, etc.) for a specific department. This role manages all customer problems in the department and is responsible for secure, confidential communication. Advising department on financial decisions involving grants and projects is necessary.
TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
6+ years related experience
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
