Idaho Correctional Institution is seeking a Financial Specialist, Sr. at our Central Office in Boise, Idaho.

Example of Duties

Develop and maintain accounting systems, plan and review financial operation, and handle difficult or sensitive financial matters
Research and analyze financial documents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and accounting principles
Develop and prepare complex financial documents such as financial statements and payroll analysis
Design, modify, and implement financial-related accounting systems or have a significant role in their development
Utilize current information technology to analyze, research, and maintain financial data, develop financial documents, and resolve problems
Analyze technical financial problems and provide professional assistance and advice concerning their solutions to upper management and external stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications

Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Experience: developing and preparing financial documents
Experience using a personal computer to develop, analyze, and report on financial data
Experience analyzing financial activities and recommending management action.

Supplemental Information

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience supervising staff
Experience researching and analyzing financial documents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations and accounting principles
Experience using IBIS or other database programs
Intermediate to advance experience with MS Excel skills
Experience with statewide payroll policy and applications

HIRING INFORMATION:

To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:

Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
Having a history of law-abiding behavior
Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI’s, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment

Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who:

Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists
