Global Business Development Manager, Machine Automation

As Global Business Development Manager you play a key role in achieving our ambitions. Reporting to the Global Division Manager, you will lead division’s business development function covering strategy, business planning and complex business development projects. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, formulating and pursuing respective initiatives and consulting the business in strategy and cooperation aspects. The location of this position can be Europe-wide, but initially a longer time period is planned in Eggelsberg (Austria) (approx. first 6-12 months).

Your responsibilities

Leading and contributing to global division’s strategy definition and executing through the analysis and identification of markets, customer segments, competitive moves, offerings and past business performance

Managing strategic business initiatives (organic and inorganic) ensuring growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction

Working closely with the global division management team in identifying, defining and following-up the strategy and business plans and supporting the implementation. Making sure differentiating strategic ideas, alternative business scenarios and risk assessments are incorporated

Systematically analyzing and monitoring market dynamics and updating market intelligence for new business opportunities and developing appropriate communications for the key audiences

Identifying opportunities and driving actions necessary to expand into the newly defined areas including investigating M&A prospects and collaborating with external partners and Start-Ups around the world

In collaboration with the operations management assessing future operation footprint and with that driving also regional and country specific growth strategies

Collaborating with all related internal contacts (within the Division, Business Area as well as ABB Group) to ensure alignment, efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of the division strategy

Your background

Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or Marketing

Proven track record in business development and strategy, experience in Merger & Acquisition projects is highly preferable

Industry and product knowhow in the automation market for machine builders is an advantage

Strong financial and analytical skills to facilitate strategic planning, business reviews, market assessments, and financial analyses of investment opportunities

Willingness to learn quickly in different fields of expertise and ability to solve problems pragmatic and result oriented

Self-motivated and proactive collaboration and stakeholder engagement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to influence both internally and externally
