Head of Finance Job at Rochdale AFC – in Head of Finance
Head of Finance
Salary – £38K – £44K
We are an ambitious professional football team, which has just celebrated 100 years since its first competitive match in the Football League and is currently in EFL League Two.
Recent changes in leadership and strategic direction have provided the opportunity for a full review of the Club’s organisational structure and as a result, the Head of Finance role has been created.
Reporting to the COO and Finance Director, you will be based at our Crown Oil Stadium and will be an integral part of the SMT. With responsibility for leading a small team you will provide the Board with key financial management information and guidance on all operational financial matters to colleagues across the organisation.
This is a rare opportunity to grow an existing and committed transactional finance function into a more strategic team which effectively supports and guides the future aims of Rochdale AFC.
It is an ideal opportunity for a qualified accountant who is looking for their first Head of Finance role, who is ready to move away from working in a purely advisory capacity and wants to begin implementing their ideas and seeing them flourish.
From day 1 you will be combining the key responsibilities of reporting alongside providing leadership for a small team. You will be identifying efficiencies, developing, documenting and maintaining internal controls, systems and procedures which are critical to the effective management of the Club, determining its long-term strategy and ensuring robust financial control.
For the right person, this role will develop as the Club’s ambitious strategic vision grows.
What are we looking for?
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience of IFRS and UKGAAP is essential
- A successful track record of managing a finance function
- A background with one of the Top 10 accountancy firms is desirable
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with an ability to engage with colleagues of all levels across different departments
- A proven relationship builder, with an ability to identify efficiencies and to drive change
- Sharp attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent Excel skills and knowledge of Sage 50
- In order to maintain our commitment to colleague’s work/life balance candidates will ideally live within easy commuting distance of the Crown Oil Stadium
