In this role, you will:
Have the unique opportunity to support the activities of the Capital Management and Treasury functions, as well as provide occasional support to and work closely with the Corporate Development, Investor Relations and Reinsurance functions

Play a key role in executing the company’s public company capital management strategy, following our expected demutualization and Initial Public Offering (“IPO”) later this year

Work closely with senior leaders, including executives, and with a variety of teams including corporate finance, investments, actuarial, risk and legal

Your Responsibilities

Actively participate in capital and treasury activities as a public company, including:

Raising capital (debt, preferred shares and hybrid securities, equity, etc.)

Analyzing and optimizing cost of capital

Shareholder distributions, including dividends and share buybacks

M&A due diligence, funding and integration

Prepare and present capital management analysis and recommendations to senior leaders and the board of directors

Support the development of an enhanced return on capital model to better understand the relative profitability of capital allocated to individual lines of business and products and help improve financial results

Contribute to the quarterly and annual business plan and short-term forecasting processes by preparing the investment income, balance sheet, cash flow and capital forecasts

Support the adoption of IFRS 17 for the Capital Management team, including redevelopment of certain models and understanding the impacts of IFRS 17 on how the business operates and its capital

Engage in the annual credit rating process, including preparing management presentations and performing credit rating modeling

Assist in developing a suite of analysis, forecasting and reporting on cash and cash flow for Senior Management, and assist in strengthening existing treasury management capabilities

Your Skills and Experience

University degree, preferably in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance

CPA designation in progress strongly preferred

1-3 years of finance experience (including co-ops / internships) in any of the following areas: capital management, financial statement analysis, forecasting, financial reporting, public accounting, or similar

Ability to analyze and understand the implications of business activities on the financial statements

Ability to research and analyze accounting policies and standards, with specific knowledge and experience with IFRS considered an asset

Prior experience in financial services industries in general, and insurance specifically, would be an asset but is not required

Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, with excellent attention to detail and proficient analytical skills

Ability to produce clear reports and presentations, including strong working knowledge of PowerPoint

Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including C-level executives
