We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager, Finance to deliver financial management and funds and investment management for the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT).
About the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust
The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a not-for-profit statutory body, established under Part 10 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and managed by a Board appointed by the Minister for the Environment. The Trust’s roles are to support and encourage landholders to enter into agreements to conserve and protect biodiversity on private land, guided by the government’s Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy; secure biodiversity offsets when developers choose to pay into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund; and other activities that promote greater awareness of, appreciation and understanding of, biodiversity and the importance of conserving it.
The NSW BCT falls within the portfolio responsibilities of the Minister for Energy and Environment, and forms part of the NSW Government’s Planning, Industry and Environment cluster.
About the Role
Operating as a financial management expert, the role requires leading and managing the BCT’s Finance team to engender an engaged and high-performance team; and lead the BCT’s financial management, including in budgeting, accounting and reporting.
Central to the role is implementing the BCT Board-approved Funds and Investment Management Framework, managing payments in and out and the significant assets held in the Biodiversity Conservation Fund and the Biodiversity Stewardship Payments Fund.
Success in the role is to provide and/or coordinate expert financial advice on payments, taxation, grants, loans and other financial aspects of BCT’s engagement with landholders.
Also vital to the role is understanding the BCT’s business strategies, including in the complex biodiversity credit market; maintaining and implementing the BCT’s asset allocation strategies; and supporting the Director and CEO in managing the BCT’s financial risks and investment market exposures in real property, biodiversity credit inventories and managed funds.
To be successful in the role you require extensive experience in a similar role and operating environment, with a focus on financial management with similar scale.
Relevant tertiary qualification and full membership of a professional accounting body, as well as a record of ongoing professional development.
