Your division

The Business Enablement Platform sits within Bankwest Technology and the vision is to provide a single, high quality, comprehensive source of information available to improve customer experience through systems of experience combined with meaningful analytics and insights.

Your team

The role is within the Strategic Risk Systems squad (SRS) within the Analytics stream of the Business Enablement Platform. The squad owns and manages key systems for the organisation including decision engines, middleware and databases.

The focus is on the Strategy Manager system for the organisation, a system that contains the credit risk models for the majority of Bankwest’ lending portfolios. The successful candidate will be able to use their skills and experience for the documentation, software development, testing and implementation of projects and changes to this system. This role will have interaction with stakeholders including system users, other teams within ES/IT department and Risk.

Your impact & contributions

The successful incumbent will be expected to have strong experience in the Financial Services industry and any prior Credit Risk knowledge will be desirable.

This is a technical role as well however the system software is customised so it is more important to have a technical background (Java, SQl, XML, SAS) as training and on the job learning will be provided to upskill the successful applicant

The system is subject to a high volume of change requests and you will work alongside 2 or 3 other colleagues on a variety of aspects around lending by the organisation. Along with maintaining the integrity of the system and supporting these changes there is also opportunity to explore improvements and enhancements to processes and logic

Your reporting line

You will report to the Engineering Team Leader for the squad and there are no direct reports for this role

Your responsibilities

Initial responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Technical development to support ongoing requirements

Documentation of current services and processes

Engagement in Blaze ceremonies (a form of Agile with scrums, showcases, sprints etc)

Production support

SME guidance for Credit Risk or Banking related solutions

Stakeholder engagement

The key skills are:
Degree or significant experience in a previous IT or equivalent role

Strong background in programming languages such as SQL, JAVA

Experience with SAS is desirable for reporting and support purposes

Prior exposure to Agile way of working

Ability to engage with and communicate to stakeholders

Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team

Prior experience in production support

Able to self-prioritise to meet deadlines

Prior work experience within Financial Services industry

You qualifications

Evidence of prior experience in an IT or equivalent role

Evidence of prior work experience within Financial Services industry

Quantitative degree in computer science, engineering or programming (desirable)
