Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Patient Financial Services, the Assistant Director of Patient Financial Services plans, directs, and coordinates a fully integrated Centralized Billing Office. Directly resposible for managing the activities of the Biling and Follow Up Teams. Maintains current receivable balances to improve the system’s cash position. Continues efforts to implement process improvements to the revenue cycle process in order to decrease the days in account receivable. Posseses highly refined management, supervisory and communication skills that will facilitate timely resolution of sensitive collection issues within an environment of favorable public relations. Includes contact with patients, hospital administration and third party payors.

Core Job Responsibilities

1 25% Accounts Receivable Oversight – Managing the activities of the Billing Office Billing Teams including but not limited to the PB/HB Billing Team, PB Follow Up Team, HB SBU Follow Up Team, and HB LBU Follow Up Team. Establish departmental revenue cycle and quality goals.

2 25% Vendor Anlaysis – Coordinates and monitors the performance of outside collection agencies including periodic audits of those agencies (ie. AR Rundown Projects, AR Billing Projects, Zero Balance Recovery Projects, etc..).

3 20% Quality Improvement – Reviews all statistical reports to monitor trends and goals, and determines operational deficiencies and implements corrective action plans as necessary. Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.

4 20% Compliance and Regulatory – Keeps abreast of all federal, state and local regulations relating to the extension of credit, billing and allowable follow-up procedures. Maintains knowledge of all regulations and standards to ensure compliance with orders or directive s issues by duly constituted governmental/regulatory agencies or third-party payers.

5 10% Administrative Duties – Directs the hiring and dismissals of department staff. Coordinates the training of new hires and conducts employee performance appraisals of all staff under their supervision. Leads monthly staff meetings and promotes positive employee relations.

Education Requirments

Required Associate or Bachelor Degree within a Healthcare or Business related discipline

Preferred Masters Degree within a Healthcare related discipline

Required 5 years of experience with 2 or more years at a supervisory position.

Preferred 10 years of experience within Healthcare with 5 or more years at a supervisory position.
