Policy Advisor – Green Finance Job at UK Government – Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy in London

This policy advisor role will work across the green finance agenda. The successful candidate will develop legislative proposals for corporate reporting in line with the Taskforce on Climate Related Financial disclosure. They will develop high quality written analysis on trends in ESG investing, financial disclosure and innovative financial products that support crowding in of private capital. They will also advise Ministers on all aspects of green finance policy including preparation for meetings with financial stakeholders, speeches and parliamentary events.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong strategic, policy making and analytical skills. They will have the ability to work seamlessly across numerous policy teams on technical policy, with an ability to summarise sophisticated analysis into high quality briefings and presentations. And highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.

Experience of green finance e.g. environmental financial disclosures (TCFD or taxonomy), green project finance, green banking would be desirable. Broader financial knowledge would also be an asset, but with evidence that this could be applied to environmental policy making. Knowledge of climate change/energy/environment policy and existing network of contacts in private finance would be an advantage.
