Portfolio Planner Job at National Grid – in Warwick

About the Role

As aPortfolio Planner, your role will be to maintain the portfolio plan for the Gas Transmission capital asset investment programme, ensuring that the programme delivers the required business objectives, on time and within target costs. Being responsible for an investment programme within the overall portfolio, you will ensure investments are accurately recorded in the Asset Investment System (C55) and work with the other planners as well as asset managers, investment managers and engineering teams,to ensure the overall programme is optimised and key constraints are managed.

Working with the team, you will enable accurate data capture and analysis to track and report performance against the regulatory deal, reporting on and supporting process compliance through the investment lifecycle. You will drive improved performance and compliance through visibility of data, including process improvements(for investment, coutage and cost management) and governance exceptions reporting.

Your role will involve ensuring thedelivery of all planning activities to time, cost and quality through the production and management of delivery plans, having a detailedunderstanding of the resources required to delivery against those plans and the management and mitigation of delivery risk. You will identify, document and manage key dependencies between business activities and portfolio planning to ensure alignment to delivery portfolio planning resuilts, priorities and ambitions.

You will develop and produce accurate and timely monthly reports, metrics and scorecards relating to performance against process compliance,governance compliance andbaseline management as well as providinginsights through performance trends and analysis, working with business stakeholders to ensure the reporting is consistentand accurate.

About You

We are looking for someone who…

Is highly numerate and analytical- with the ability to work with large sets of data and produce accurate and timely reports.

Has excellent interpersonal skills- allowing you to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Can prioritise and organise- worksto tight deadlines and hasa strong attention to detail.

Is self-motivated- has the drive to keep going, even in the face ofset-backs, showscommitment to the role and team.

Technical Skills:
Experience in using financial models (in excel or other).

Knowledge of the Planning Processes across all work types.

Ability to apply and interpret the prioritisation framework (cost/risk/performance).

Knowledge and understanding of the RIIO regulatory deal.

Expert practitioner in asset/work management systems.

Management of resource plans and other constraints in an operational environment.

Previous experience in planning, scheduling or project management.

The ideal candidate will have a Business Management qualification and/or proven track record of numerical analysis or relevant experience.
