About the job

At MI5 and GCHQ, we protect the UK from threats including terrorism, espionage and cyber crime. It’s important work, so ensuring we have the right products and services to do it is vital. On our Procurement Internship, you’ll spend 12 months with our procurement department, providing essential support to the UK’s intelligence agencies.

Job description

This is an internship where you’ll really get involved. You’ll help deliver products and services to assist our operations. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll manage contracts and negotiate with suppliers, ensuring we achieve the best value for our customers. You’ll be organised, proactive and professional in your approach. So, forget about making tea – on this internship, you’ll make a real impact.

You’ll join our friendly and inclusive procurement function, where you’ll gain skills and experience relevant to your studies. You’ll be a valued addition to the team, and undertake projects that support our wider mission. As you grow in confidence, you’ll challenge our processes and establish new procedures. Importantly, you’ll be keen to develop and improve your own knowledge, which you’ll apply to the next stage of your degree.

You don’t need to be on a specific course or have experience to apply, but you’ll be in your penultimate year of university and have a genuine interest in procurement. You’ll be guided throughout the internship by a task manager and mentor, so you’ll get all the support and training you need.
