Our Associate Director – Hubs, Logistics & Ops Planning is looking for an outstanding Procurement Manager to join their highly skilled and high performing team. This role will be based from our offices in Smethwick B66 1BY

Purpose of Position
The main purpose of the role will be to manage an efficient and effective purchasing service that provides DPD UK with high quality service and best value for money in the procurement of goods and services. The Procurement Manager will also be responsible for the development and implementation of procurement procedures which comply with relevant legislation and represent best value. This will involve liaison across the organisation.
Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility
Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and ensure that the cost of the procurement function is recovered through the negotiation of cost reductions
To review and identify relevant training needs within the department and ensure that these needs are met
Lead the procurement process in all phases
To develop a department procurement strategy which accurately reflects the needs of the organisation
To develop and implement department purchasing policies and initiatives, which support the procurement strategy, represent best practice and demonstrate the principles of best value.
To ensure that all procurement arrangements represent the most economically advantageous option for DPD.
To advise on and establish performance indicators for the procurement services provided.
To maintain and review existing Procurement Service contracts and develop new contractual arrangements where appropriate.
To provide professional advice on all procurement issues.
In conjunction with the Finance department, ensure that systems are in place to monitor total expenditure on supplies and services and to use this information to maximise the benefits of economies of scale.
To ensure that all relevant purchasing records and databases are accurate and that all relevant procedures are adhered to.
Support sustainable development which supports the company CSR strategy.
Responsible for planning, developing and buying materials, parts, supplies and equipments in a timely and cost effective way; timely manner while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications

To be considered for this role you must be educated to degree level or equivalent or have a relevant industry qualification. Experience operating at a management level is essential. You will also be able to demonstrate Category Management experience and extensive experience of developing and implementing category strategies. We would also expect;

Contracting skills with a strong commercial acumen to identify business opportunities.
Excellent written, analytical and presenting skills with the ability to communicate at all levels

This role may require occasional travel and overnight stays away from home
