Reporting to a controller or director, this position is the senior level financial manager position. In this position, an incumbent will typically manage a work group that will consist of financial industry professionals, such as Accountants, Financial Analysts, Finance Supervisors, and Accounting Clerks. The incumbent is responsible for the quality and quantity of work in the unit including timely processing of accounting/financial documents, timely completion of reconciliations related to the unit’s work, etc.
Finance employees receive, account for, monitor, and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to God’s commandments) for the Church’s religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders.
Handles selection, staffing, performance, and discipline issues.
Provides/arranges for employee training.
Researches and solves problems unique to the unit.
Serves in special committees or participates in special projects as assigned
Additional responsibilities may be required to perform significant individual contributor functions which would be similar in complexity to those of a senior financial analyst, business program manager, or business program analyst and would typically focus on the department, Area, or corporate levels. They will work with their staff and the IT department of the Church to ensure that the GL systems of the Church are maintained, updated, reliable, and secure. They will work with the Controller of the Church and their staff to ensure that all reports and disclosures comply with applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies. They also assist in the direction and administration of the organization’s current financial operations and support the development of future GL strategies and implementations.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology Management, or a related field.
12 years or more of related professional work experience.
Working knowledge of PCs, networks, and basic software applications including spreadsheets and databases.
Working knowledge of general ledger accounting systems, international accounting systems, and writing standard SQL queries to generate reports.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
CMA, CPA, PMP, or MBA.
A working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials or Oracle’s Fusion Financial ERP.
Experience converting or transforming from an on-premise Financial ERP to a Cloud hosted ERP.
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
