The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division engages with our customers and communities to deliver safe and tailored transport choices that connect regional NSW and contribute to strong economic growth and sustainability.

About the Team

Transport Partnerships is an integral part of the ROM’s Chief Customer Office (CCO). The purpose of the Chief Customer Office is to make regional NSW a better place to live, work and visit by delivering great customer experiences. Transport Partnerships work in partnership with other transport divisions and across other government agencies on strategy, planning, design and development to deliver integrated transport services for regional and outer metropolitan customers & communities, and to engage with our customers, stakeholders and communities around transport choices.

The Transport Partnerships Finance team supports the various contract management teams with responsibility for payment of service providers in accordance with their contracts, fleet management and business finance management.

The opportunity

In this newly created role, the Senior Financial Analyst provides oversight and analytical expertise to manage payment of service providers in accordance with their contracts. The role also provides business and financial performance information and analysis to report on contract performance of transport operators.

What you will be involved in

The successful candidate will contribute to the development, implementation, operation and improvement of functions, systems, processes and tools to ensure that payment of service providers is in accordance with their contracts.

Given the vast range of stakeholders pertaining to this role, the Senior Financial Analyst will be exceptionally collaborative in their approach in order to consider and meet the needs and expectations of all stakeholders. Additionally, this role will be accountable for;

Manage and oversee service and fleet contract variations to ensure accurate calculations are applied and timely data entry is undertaken

Provide advice to inform the development and continual improvement of business systems, including providing inputs to Branch financial reporting and business planning and project governance, to ensure consistent and effective management of the Branch’s operational and capital budget.

Assess and audit claims for submitted operator payments, including determining required reconciliation payments and ensuring any variations to funding are justified, to maintain the integrity of the data in the electronic payments systems under the various contracts and schemes.

Maintain a detailed understanding of the relevant service contracts in order to be able to apply and interpret clauses relevant to payment functions.

About you

We are looking for someone who works collaboratively with others and builds and maintains strong team relationships. The successful candidates will be committed to managing and prioritising competing demands and responsibilities in a busy and evolving environment.

We are looking for someone who has experience in continuing improvement and enhancement of financial information, system, outputs and procedures. You will be confident in your problem solving skills and able to build rapport easily with stakeholders allowing you to drive real and tangible outcomes when it comes to developing financial processes for the business.

You have strong interpersonal skills and a problem solver.

You will possess strong communication skills and will be adept at delivering positive outcomes for ROM through your ability to work with information from multiple sources and databases.

In addition to the above, you will have extensive experience in payment and/or financial management in a large multi-disciplinary based environment and appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated relevant, equivalent professional experience.
