About Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Investment Analyst to join our dynamic Asset Strategy team based in Sydney or Perth. Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, you will be responsible for commercial and financial appraisals of major capital projects, from early pre-feasibility assessments all the way through to final investment decision. Alinta Energy has a large pipeline of transformational renewable generation projects and large-scale storage projects such as pumped hydro and batteries. You will provide key analytical support functions to the Asset Strategy team to progress the business case development of these opportunities including the associated debt and equity modelling.

Responsibilities include:
Provide financial, commercial and funding input into feasibility studies for development projects

Build and enhance forecasting modelling tools and undertake scenario analysis and financial modelling of business and financing options

Provide support in commercial negotiations and achieving closure on the details of transactions

Ensure effective sourcing of debt to meet the working requirement of the project

Liaise with the Alinta Treasury team in relation to debt capital management and financial risk management

Form cross-functional project working groups to drive outcomes for the business

Clarify key stakeholder needs to ensure the delivery of effective outcomes

To be successful you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in business, economics, engineering or other analytical discipline

Post-graduate in finance or engineering such as Chartered Accountant, CFA or other relevant experience

Seasoned technical or commercial professional with 6 to 10 years’ relevant experience, ideally from an investment bank, Big 4 accounting firm or ASX listed corporate within corporate finance

Proven experience in project finance modelling

High level skills in building and utilising sophisticated financial models.

Advanced user of MS Excel and PowerPoint

Financial analysis experience in Australian energy markets is desirable but not essential

High level communication and interpersonal skills, with capacity to influence and negotiate

The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively liaise with key senior stakeholders and recommend strategies in relation to debt capital management and financial risk.
