RBS Data & Decision Science (DDS) is the centre of excellence for data and analytics capability within the Retail Bank delivering exceptional data driven innovation to Retail customers. A department of 600+ staff, DDS leads the design and delivery of data, data science, modelling, insights, and analytics driving customer contact strategies, product pricing, business performance management, fraud and financial crime detection, and business performance management across all Product, Channel and Support functions in the Retail Bank.

In the Senior Manager Risk and Control Advisory and Delivery role, you will be a trusted business partner who is responsible for identifying potential risks and recommending solutions. Depending on the role, you will either be responsible for overseeing new projects or significant process changes, or managing the control assurance program for the DDS business. With DDS providing key analytics capability and delivering innovative ideas for the Retail Bank, this role will enable you to make a tangible difference in enhancing the financial wellbeing of our customers.

The DDS Risk & Control Advisory & Delivery team is responsible for ensuring that strong controls are in place and decisions are well informed, timely and socialised for the DDS business. They achieve this through providing an end to end risk and control service, including the effective design & implementation of controls, ensuring the operational risk & compliance frameworks are effectively implemented in their BU’s and also ensuring the DDS leadership team has the right level of comfort and governance within their risk environment.

Reporting into the Executive Manager of Risk & Controls, you will contribute to Line 1 Risk activities across the portfolio and embed a sound risk culture within the business.

On any given day you will be responsible for:
Risk in Change and Supplier Risk: You will ensure that new or changed risks and controls arising out of projects and supplier engagements are assessed appropriately and well understood by project/engagement sponsors and stakeholders.

Risk Management: You will provide risk advice and consultancy services to the business and support them to design and implement controls to enable better risk and compliance outcome. This may include includes supporting identification and initiation of actions to remediate risks, incidents and issues and to strengthen controls, and supporting the DDS control assurance program to ensure control performance and testing is in line with Group standards.

People: Your role will involve interaction with staff of all levels within RBS, and more broadly across other business units across the CBA Group. You will maintain a close working relationship with both Business stakeholders as well as RBS Risk Management and RBS Compliance stakeholders. You will also mentor and lead a team of high performing risk professionals to maintain high quality deliverables. This role currently has one direct report, with a view to grow.

We’re interested in hearing from people who possess:
Demonstrated 5+ experience in Operational Risk, Compliance and/or Audit, specifically within Banking/Financial Services or Professional Consulting firms

Resilience, strong organisational skills, and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment

Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and achieve desired outcomes

High proficiency in Oral and written communication and presentations to an Executive audience

A proactive and results driven mind-set, with the ability to analyse processes and quickly identify risks to recommend appropriate actions, and design appropriate controls

Background in Data & Analytics Risk considered highly desirable, including a deep understanding of RBS processes and products (or desire to develop)
