The annual declaration of Ore Reserves provides Anglo American investors the information which underpins part of the Group’s valuation, its long-term outlook.

A dedicated team of Ore Reserves SME’s is being developed to work closely with the Life of Asset Planning from Group Mining to deliver Reserves throughout the planning cycle. The team will ensure individual assets are aligned with resource development plans (RDP) and integrated work across all discipline work streams. The Reserve work will take into account compliance with the various codes and standards within the operational jurisdictions to ensure value benefit for all stakeholders.

Job Description

Develop Ore Reserves from LoAP (Life of Asset Planning) with a strategy that maximizes value extracted from the mining plan for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
Integrate and track cross functional initiatives that impact on reserve generation and LoAP

Assist with Reserves declarations for existing operations and.

Prepare report of mine Reserves in compliance with relevant codes.

Provide specialist support to a business or function as required.

Maintain systems to streamline Reserve process.

Establish standard database, planning, scheduling and reporting systems for Reserves. Integrate data and financial modelling to enhance Reserve capability.

Utilize scanning capability to keep up to date with technological advancements and relevant code updates to ensure health of discipline is industry leading and forward focused.

Engage with and influence key stakeholders.

Participate in cross functional meetings to update and share expertise with internal strategic partners (such as RDP and LoAP, Business Planning, Strategic Planning, Business Development, Corporate Finance and Long-Term Planning).

Ensure compliance to planning inputs throughout the LoAP process.

Demonstrate behaviours in line with health, safety, and environmental standards and with the Group’s values.

Qualifications

  • Expertise must have been obtained from a formal qualification in Mining Engineering, Mineral Economics, or other relevant discipline. Qualifications such as:

Minimum requirement : Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification (COM qualification),

Demonstrated application of academic qualifications through experience working in the field.

Registration with the recognized body for reserve declaration (AUSIMM, SAIMM, ECSA, SACNASP).

Knowledge and Experience:
Extensive background in mine design, planning, production scheduling and cost estimating.

Completing studies including resource evaluations, feasibility studies, mine planning optimizations, financial analyses.

Demonstrated ability in planning software (Comet, Deswick, Minesight, Cadsmine, Vulcan or Datamine).

Demonstrated ability to understand the entire mining value chain and influence on reserve declaration.

Complexity of global mining company, social, political, environment and cultural influences and how to strategically manage the impact of external forces.

Managing diverse multi-functional operational and technical teams.

5 years’ experience at a mid-management level in mine planning or survey within the organization.

Advantageous experience in Platinum mining operations.

Additional Information:
Remote work will be allowed as long as the tasks to be developed permit it.

Travelling will be required up to 4 weeks a year.
