POSITION SUMMARY: *
The Valuation Analyst I is responsible for conducting research and completing various tasks relating to the valuation department at Rushmore Loan Management Services. The primary function for this position will be performing basic quality control reviews on Broker Price Opinions or Competitive Market Analysis (CMAs). The Quality control function is to ensure valuations obtained are accurate representations of the collateral for the loan (confirming property’s physical characteristics and comps provided are reasonable substitutes for the subject property). The analyst will have a basic understanding of residential real estate principles as well as the three primary approaches to value.
Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *

  • Performs quality control reviews on Broker Price Opinions (BPOs) or Competitive Market Analysis (CMAs) obtained by RLMS. BPOs or CMAs are obtained for various client needs including acquisitions, periodic servicing updates, loss mitigation and pre-foreclosure reviews
  • Uses analytical skills developed through training and common sense to review, analyze, and interpret residential real estate valuations
  • Performs market research
  • Identifies and locates documents needed for review
  • Performs data collection
  • Identifies and reconciles property type discrepancies
  • Assists in responding to inquiries or requests from valuation service providers
  • Assists in the set-up of the review in proprietary review system
  • Works, monitors and compiles reports on special projects
  • Assists valuation department with various daily functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications: ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret 3rd party data and various internet resources and incorporate into the valuation review process
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through both written and oral communication to clients (both internal and external,) analysts, appraisers, and agents and all other points of contact
  • Strong analytical, comprehension and problem solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accept direction and additional responsibilities from manager or supervisor as necessary
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Convey a positive and professional attitude towards staff members, clients and vendors

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: *

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor degree preferred (in Finance, Management, Business Administration or Accounting with a concentration in Finance or Real Estate preferred)
  • Previous real estate experience or education preferred
